A Beautiful Day of Seva: Huge Langar Event Brings the Community Together

This past weekend, Gurdwara Sahib Geelong was filled with the spirit of unity, compassion, and shared humanity as we hosted a huge Langar event that brought together hundreds of people from diverse backgrounds. It was more than just a meal—it was a powerful expression of Sikh values of seva (selfless service), equality, and community.

• Over 800+ people served hot, nutritious, and lovingly prepared vegetarian meals
• Community members volunteered across all areas: cooking, serving, cleaning, and organizing
• Visitors of all faiths and cultures sat side-by-side to share the same meal—just as Guru Nanak Dev Ji envisioned
• Educational displays and kirtan created a spiritually uplifting atmosphere for all ages

Langar is not just about feeding people—it’s about breaking barriers. There are no VIPs in the Langar hall. Everyone sits on the floor together, symbolizing equality and humility. This event once again reminded us that the simplest acts of kindness can have the greatest impact.
